In the data engineering group, we provide software for the rest of Metaweb and the Freebase data community. This software ranges from data mining and data import to crowd-sourcing applications. If you're looking to contribute to a production-level code base in a substantive way, where your work will be used by a large audience, this will be a good summer internship for you.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building production-level software using test-driven, agile development methods
- Coding mostly in Python
- Developing consumer-facing features from end-to-end
- Designing and implementing novel methods for parsing and mining large data sets
- Constantly refining the engineering process of your team to realize greater efficiencies
- Working within a multidisciplinary team of researchers, data analysts, database specialists, and product managers.
Good candidates will:
- Be majoring or minoring in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Have worked in other software engineering internships
