Former OpenTable CEO/CitySearch Co-Founder To Lead Web Infrastructure Company
SAN FRANCISCO, June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Metaweb Technologies, Inc., a company developing a new infrastructure for building applications and sharing data on the web, today announced the appointment of Thomas Layton as Chief Executive Officer.

Layton joins Metaweb from OpenTable, Inc., the leading supplier of reservation, table management and guest management software for restaurants. During his 6-year tenure as CEO, the number of restaurants using OpenTable grew from 500 to 7000 and the number of diners seated via online reservations grew from 22,000 per month to 2 million per month. Layton currently serves on OpenTable's Board of Directors.
Prior to his experience at OpenTable, Layton was cofounder of CitySearch, Inc., a leading local search service, that merged with Ticketmaster to become Ticketmaster Online -- CitySearch (NASDAQ: TMCS) , now a subsidiary of IAC/InterActiveCorp. Layton served as President and COO of TMCS. Previously, Layton was President of Score Learning Company and a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group.
